Corrosion increases during cavitation because the cavitation destroys the passivated (protective oxide layer) formed on corrosion resistance materials.

Higher temperatures also increase the rate of corrosion/ erosion

On a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being the most resistant to cavitation damage, here are some guidelines for choosing some common cast materials if you are pumping clear water at ambient temperature.
