Hydrostatic Test

According to the Hydraulic Institute Standard, each part of a centrifugal pump that contains fluid under pressure shall be capable of withstanding a hydrostatic test at no less than the greater of the following:

  • 150% of the pressure that will occur in that part when the pump is operated at rated conditions for the given application of the pump.
  • 125% of the pressure which would occur in that part when operating at rated pump rpm for the given application, but with the pump discharge closed.
